Planmeca Group participates in organizing the World Championships in Ice Hockey this spring by providing a Planmed Verity Extremity Scanner and Planmeca Compact i dental care unit for the on-site emergency room at Helsinki Arena.
The Planmed Verity extremity scanner is an all new approach to orthopedic imaging that helps to detect the often missed fractures in the extremities. Planmed Verity acquires an accurate 3D image with a lower radiation dose than traditional CTs. Thanks to its anatomy-specific design, Planmed Verity also offers a unique new application: weight-bearing imaging. Planmed Verity has been designed and manufactured by Planmed Oy in Helsinki, Finland.
”Extremity injuries are typical in ice-hockey. Planmed Verity is well-suited for this type of imaging as it has been designed to acquire a 3D image of the entire area at once. The pulsed X-ray technique also helps to keep the radiation dose low”, says Dr. Markku Tuominen, Head Physician for the Finnish National Ice Hockey Team.
The Planmeca Compact i dental unit is designed to support the workflow of the whole dental team. The full digital unit is ergonomic for the dentist and convenient for the patient while conforming even to the strictest safety and infection control regulations. Over 25,000 Planmeca Compact i units have been sold worldwide. At the Ice Hockey World Championships, the dental unit will help in diagnosing dental injuries and giving first-aid treatment.
